Kaviraj Kanagaraj	ce574485cf	feat(caching): Support caching `/series` and `/labels` query results (#11539 ) What this PR does / why we need it: Add support for caching metadata queries (both series and labels). caching happens after splitting similar to other types of queries. This pr adds the following configs to enable them. ``` cache_series_results: true\|false (default false) cache_label_results: true\|false (default false) ``` And the cache backend for them can be configured using `series_results_cache` and `label_results_cache` blocks under the `query_range` section. (#11246 ) What this PR does / why we need it: Following https://github.com/grafana/loki/pull/11123 and in order to enable https://github.com/grafana/loki/pull/10417 the query frontend should send the serialized LogQL AST instead of the query string to the queriers. This enables the frontend to change the AST and inject expressions that are not expressible in LogQL. Note that Loki still uses some packages from weaveworks/common that I haven't migrated (`aws` and `test`) - I'll migrate these separately. If this PR needs to be rebuilt, I used `rewrite.sh` ([source](https://gist.github.com/charleskorn/48efe62a09d6d70f3de30327003df5c5#file-rewrite-sh)) to generate most of these changes. Salva Corts	8cf921a145	Pass engine opts down to middlewares (#9130 ) What this PR does / why we need it: The following middlewares in the query frontend uses a downstream engine: - `NewQuerySizeLimiterMiddleware` and `NewQuerierSizeLimiterMiddleware` - `NewQueryShardMiddleware` - `NewSplitByRangeMiddleware` These were all creating the downstream engine as follows: ```go logql.NewDownstreamEngine(logql.EngineOpts{LogExecutingQuery: false}, DownstreamHandler{next: next, limits: limits}, limits, logger), ``` As can be seen, the [engine options configured in Loki][1] were not being used at all. In the case of `NewQuerySizeLimiterMiddleware`, `NewQuerierSizeLimiterMiddleware` and `NewQueryShardMiddleware`, the downstream engine was created to get the `MaxLookBackPeriod`. When creating a new Downstream Engine as above, the `MaxLookBackPeriod` [would always be the default][2] (30 seconds). This PR fixes this by passing down the engine config to these middlewares, so this config is used to create the new downstream engines. Dylan Guedes	15f8f42295	Adapt queryTimeout to be a per-tenant configuration (#6835 ) What this PR does / why we need it: * Add a new per-tenant query timeout * Adds new middleware to query calls. This new middleware will timeout requests based on the new per-tenant query timeout * Add span logs to query calls missing it * Deprecate `engine.timeout` configuration The motivation to change this configuration to be per-tenant instead of global is that it makes sense to alleviate the timeout for particular tenants or make it more strict for others. Especially useful for scenarios where the Loki client doesn't handle context cancellations correctly; in such scenarios, since Loki would still process expensive queries that were canceled, this allows one to have small timeouts for most tenants, which will help mitigate unnecessary work without having a timeout that is too short for important tenants.	3 years ago
