Christian Haudum	1187a73667	chore: LogQL syntax and AST simplification and cosistency (#16028 ) This PR aims for making the grammar file (syntax.y) for the LogQL syntax more readable and the AST and its expressions more consistent in naming. You could say these are cosmetics, and yes they are, but if they can help developers better and faster understand the code it's a win. Personally I found the grammar yacc file intimidating until I understood that it was way more complicated that it needed to be. This also fixes the `checkIntervalLimit(syntax.SampleExpr, time.Duration)` function, which did not visit the expression if it was a `*ConcatSampleExpr`. Ed Welch	e21b525674	Loki: increase the limit for query length from 5k to 128k (#11701 ) What this PR does / why we need it: We originally added this limit from fuzz testing and realizing there should be some maximum limit to an allowed query size. The original limit was 5120 based on some internet searching and a best estimate of what a reasonable limit would be. We have seen use cases with queries containing a lot of filter expressions or long expanded variable names where this limit was too small. Apparently the spec does not specify a limit, and more internet searching suggests almost all browsers will handle 100k+ length urls without issue Some limit here still seems prudent however, so the new limit is now 128k. Christian Haudum	62176339c4	Bloom querying: Propagate line filters from querier to bloom filter (#11492 ) In order to query the bloom filters with the search strings from the user query, we need to propagate the line filters through the different implementations of the store, namely through the GetChunks function. In order to avoid converting data structures, the line filter from the syntax tree is used as custom protobuf type, because it is passed from querier to index gateway and from index gateway to bloom gateway. So far, the line filters request have not been tokenized to n-grams. This PR adds the ability to read the n-gram length from the block schema at query time and tokenizes the line filters from the input just ahead of searching the block. Danny Kopping	e523809216	bug(volume): return 400 error for invalid volume request (#11313 ) What this PR does / why we need it: Making a request to the `/volume{,_range}` endpoints results in a 500 is a LogQL expression is given instead of the expected label matchers. The reason for this is that the error is not wrapped in such a way as to be interpreted by `ClientHTTPStatusAndError` correctly. 5xx responses from the querier are automatically retried, so any invalid request currently results in 5 retries which are unnecessary. Kaviraj Kanagaraj	9366343e18	Bug(LogQL): Fix mismatch results on `scalar` and `vector` binary ops (#10997 ) What this PR does / why we need it: [According to LogQL doc,](https://grafana.com/docs/loki/latest/query/#comparison-operators) binary operators between `scalar` and `vector` should behave as follows (either it's `scalar` op `vector` or `vector` op `scalar`) ``` Between a vector and a scalar, these operators are applied to the value of every data sample in the vector ``` PromQL (where LogQL inspired from) [also works that way](https://prometheus.io/docs/prometheus/latest/querying/operators/). Currently LogQL violates this behaviour. It returns whatever on the `left` (even if it's scalar). Look into the attached issue for more details. Changes: 1. Fixed `MergeBinOps` by making it aware when to return left or right (depending on which is from vector originally) 2. Karsten Jeschkies	f8658fdc38	Enable sharding for avg_over_time. (#10373 ) What this PR does / why we need it: The range aggregation `avg_over_time` is simply shardable if there's no label reduction. If there is one it can be express as ``` sum by (method) ( sum_over_time( {container="app"} \| json \| unwrap bytes [$__interval]) ) / sum by (method) ( count_over_time( {container="app"} \| json [$__interval] ) ) ``` Note that `sum by`, `sum_over_time` and `count_over_time` are shardable once more. Kaviraj Kanagaraj	c030217e1b	Revert "LogQL: Introduce `distinct` (#8662 )" (#10356 ) What this PR does / why we need it: This reverts commit `38b298c3fe`. We are removing this PR #8662 because [known issue tracked here](https://github.com/grafana/loki/issues/9594) and some issues we facing internally with query splitting and sharding work(hard to parallelize, merging two `distinct` sets can have duplicates, hard to make it work with metric queries, etc). We decided best to remove it before make it to public release.
