bwplotka	f44bba31b3	config: Remove validation GetScrapeConfigs; require using config.Load. We should never modify (or even shallow copy) Config after config.Load; added comments and modified GetScrapeConfigs to do so. For GetScrapeConfigs the validation (even repeated) was likely doing writes (because global fields was 0). We GetScrapeConfigs concurrently in tests and ApplyConfig causing test races. In prod there were races but likelyt only to replace 0 with 0, so not too severe. I removed validation since I don't see anyone using our config.Config without Load. I had to refactor one test that was doing it, all others use yaml config. Đurica Yuri Nikolić	101b1c307f	[ENHANCEMEN] Remote-Write: optionally use a DNS resolver that picks a random IP (#15329 ) When a remote-write is executed towards a host name that is resolved to multiple IP addresses, this PR introduces a possibility to force creation of new connections used for the remote-write request to a randomly chosen IP address from the ones corresponding to the host name. The default behavior remains unchanged, i.s., the IP address used for the connection creation remains the one chosen by Go. This is an experimental feature, it is disabled by default. TJ Hoplock	6ebfbd2d54	chore!: adopt log/slog, remove go-kit/log For: #14355 This commit updates Prometheus to adopt stdlib's log/slog package in favor of go-kit/log. As part of converting to use slog, several other related changes are required to get prometheus working, including: - removed unused logging util func `RateLimit()` - forward ported the util/logging/Deduper logging by implementing a small custom slog.Handler that does the deduping before chaining log calls to the underlying real slog.Logger - move some of the json file logging functionality to use prom/common package functionality - refactored some of the new json file logging for scraping - changes to promql.QueryLogger interface to swap out logging methods for relevant slog sugar wrappers - updated lots of tests that used/replicated custom logging functionality, attempting to keep the logical goal of the tests consistent after the transition - added a healthy amount of `if logger == nil { $makeLogger }` type conditional checks amongst various functions where none were provided -- old code that used the go-kit/log.Logger interface had several places where there were nil references when trying to use functions like `With()` to add keyvals on the new *slog.Logger type Signed-off-by: TJ Hoplock <t.hoplock@gmail.com>	1 year ago

In #13215 we allowed an existing object to be reused when converting an integer histogram to a float histogram. This commit follows the same idea and allows injecting an existing object in the AtHistogram and AtFloatHistogram methods. When the injected value is nil, iterators allocate new histograms, otherwise they populate and return the injected object. The commit also adds a CopyTo method to Histogram and FloatHistogram which is used in the BufferedIterator to overwrite items in the ring instead of making new copies. In addition to what described in #10420, in this PR I've introduced labels.StableHash(). The idea is to offer an hashing function which doesn't change over time, and that's used by query sharding in order to get a stable behaviour over time. The implementation of labels.StableHash() is the hashing function used by Prometheus before stringlabels, and what's used by Grafana Mimir for query sharding (because built before stringlabels was a thing). Follow up work As mentioned in #10420, if this PR is accepted I'm also open to upload another foundamental piece used by Grafana Mimir query sharding to accelerate the query execution: an optional, configurable and fast in-memory cache for the series hashes. gotjosh	b615c43d5b	RuleQueryOffset: Add omitempty for the global configuration (#14216 ) A small oversight of when I introduced https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/14061, I could add a test to cover it but it seems like an overkill given other similar attributes don't have it either.
