This makes clamd responsive to simple (version,contscan,etc.) requests even during multiscan. Previously these would get stuck behind a ~100 item queue, and the 1:4 ratio of executing these commands wasn't working, since the commands weren't in the queue in the first place.	16 years ago

Török Edvin	80301d0cd6	Fix clamd hang when number of multiscan commands == MaxThreads (bb #1700). ... Each multiscan command needs 1 control thread, and 1 (possibly shared) scanner thread. If the number of multiscan control threads would be equal to MaxThreads no progress could be made, since each one would be waiting for 1 free scanner thread (but none can be spawned since maxthreads was already reached). As long as there is 1 thread free for scanning, we can have N-1 multiscan commands active, with N MaxThreads.	16 years ago

Solaris still doesn't have the fix for a bug filed in 1992 (!) enabled by default for the sake of binary compatibility. Each 32-bit application that wants to use more than 256 file descriptors must enable support explicitly, or use an LD_PRELOAD library at runtime that does this (or be compiled as 64-bit). Török Edvin	6e65b70e29	Must free engine on exit, otherwise valgrind incorrectly reports leaks. ... This is a cherry-pick of a similar commit on the bytecode branch. There this was needed because the JIT stores pointers mangled (stores an integer in low bits of the pointer), thus valgrind can't see that pointers to that memory region still exist, and reports it as definetely lost, instead of still reachable. However this seems to happen on master too (where there is no JIT), valgrind cannot see that everything allocating in engine is reachable from the engine pointer, and reports some of the memory allocated for the engine (the regex parts) as possible lost, and reports the rest as still reachable. This seems to only happen with certain kernel versions, timings, etc. The fix is to always free the engine, even if this is the parent after the fork.	16 years ago
