Tom Lane	f933766ba7	Restructure pg_opclass, pg_amop, and pg_amproc per previous discussions in pgsql-hackers. pg_opclass now has a row for each opclass supported by each index AM, not a row for each opclass name. This allows pg_opclass to show directly whether an AM supports an opclass, and furthermore makes it possible to store additional information about an opclass that might be AM-dependent. pg_opclass and pg_amop now store "lossy" and "haskeytype" information that we previously expected the user to remember to provide in CREATE INDEX commands. Lossiness is no longer an index-level property, but is associated with the use of a particular operator in a particular index opclass. Along the way, IndexSupportInitialize now uses the syscaches to retrieve pg_amop and pg_amproc entries. I find this reduces backend launch time by about ten percent, at the cost of a couple more special cases in catcache.c's IndexScanOK. Bruce Momjian	558fae16e3	The attached patch enables the contrib subtree to build cleanly under Cygwin with the possible exception of mSQL-interface. Since I don't have mSQL installed, I skipped this tool. Except for dealing with a missing getopt.h (oid2name) and HUGE (seg), the bulk of the patch uses the standard PostgreSQL approach to deal with Windows DLL issues. I tested the build aspect of this patch under Cygwin and Linux without any ill affects. Note that I did not actually attempt to test the code for functionality. The procedure to apply the patch is as follows: $ # save the attachment as /tmp/contrib.patch $ # change directory to the top of the PostgreSQL source tree $ patch -p0 </tmp/contrib.patch Jason	25 years ago

Tom Lane	d08741eab5	Restructure the key include files per recent pghackers discussion: there are now separate files "postgres.h" and "postgres_fe.h", which are meant to be the primary include files for backend .c files and frontend .c files respectively. By default, only include files meant for frontend use are installed into the installation include directory. There is a new make target 'make install-all-headers' that adds the whole content of the src/include tree to the installed fileset, for use by people who want to develop server-side code without keeping the complete source tree on hand. Cleaned up a whole lot of crufty and inconsistent header inclusions.	25 years ago
