Documentation files in HTML and man formats are now prepared for distribution using the distprep make target, like everything else. They are placed in doc/src/sgml/html and manX and installed from there by make install, if present. The business with the tarballs in the tarball is gone.	17 years ago
Peter Eisentraut	7798147a76	Expand test coverage support to entire tree ... Test coverage support now covers the entire source tree, including contrib, instead of just src/backend. In a related but independent development, the commands make coverage and make coverage-html can be run in any directory. This turned out to be much easier than feared. Besides a few ad hoc fixes to pass the make target down the tree, change all affected makefiles to list their directories in the SUBDIRS variable, changed from variants like DIRS and WANTED_DIRS. MSVC build fix was attempted as well.	17 years ago

(1) there is only one "install" target. no more "install-all-headers". it simplifies/changes several makefiles. (2) the documentation reflects the change. Tom Lane	d08741eab5	Restructure the key include files per recent pghackers discussion: there ... are now separate files "postgres.h" and "postgres_fe.h", which are meant to be the primary include files for backend .c files and frontend .c files respectively. By default, only include files meant for frontend use are installed into the installation include directory. There is a new make target 'make install-all-headers' that adds the whole content of the src/include tree to the installed fileset, for use by people who want to develop server-side code without keeping the complete source tree on hand. Cleaned up a whole lot of crufty and inconsistent header inclusions.	25 years ago

Peter Eisentraut	32163099d7	Add distprep target to take some of the job of the release_prep script. ... The latter updated accordingly. Also add `dist' and `distcheck' targets to play with, but caveat packager. Updated backend/bootstrap and backend/parser makefile to make them marginally builddir aware and fix the usual set of things. Add rule to automatically remake config.h dependent on config.h.in and config.status. (Adopted from Autoconf manual and about every other package.) On a good day we should now have a complete and accurate set of dependencies throughout everything.	26 years ago
