Bruce Momjian	a0bf2503ea	The attached patch fixes a number of issues related to compiling the ... client utilities (libpq.dll and psql.exe) for win32 (missing defines, adjustments to includes, pedantic casting, non-existent functions) per: http://developer.postgresql.org/docs/postgres/install-win32.html. It compiles cleanly under Windows 2000 using Visual Studio .net. Also compiles clean and passes all regression tests (regular and contrib) under Linux. Integrated src/utils/version.c into src/backend/utils/init/miscinit.c. Changed all callers. Set version number to `7.1devel'. (Non-numeric version suffixes now allowed.)	26 years ago

Some people don't have automake installed. Only run the autoconf rule in the top-level GNUmakefile if the invoker specified `make configure', don't run it automatically because of CVS timestamp skew.	26 years ago

Bruce Momjian	1e801a8f16	Hi, ... Attached you'll find a (big) patch that fixes make dep and make depend in all Makefiles where I found it to be appropriate. It also removes the dependency in Makefile.global for NAMEDATALEN and OIDNAMELEN by making backend/catalog/genbki.sh and bin/initdb/initdb.sh a little smarter. This no longer requires initdb.sh that is turned into initdb with a sed script when installing Postgres, hence initdb.sh should be renamed to initdb (after the patch has been applied :-) ) This patch is against the 6.3 sources, as it took a while to complete.
